 Three men, one passion: egg liqueur.  

Our vision: 

We help egg liqueur back to the fame and glory it has always deserved. We are also revolutionising the way liqueurs are produced: we take great care to use only ingredients that are sustainable, fair and appropriate to the species. All 100% organic. We're going a new way with this. 

RÜBBELBERG - this is homemade egg liqueur. Only that you no longer have to make it yourself, but can buy it. Following the classic recipe of the legendary liqueur, RÜBBELBERG is taking a new approach and refining the recipe with genuine organic bourbon vanilla. This is not spared, almost a whole pod of the fine spice is processed in a bottle. Due to the natural, mild sweetness of vanilla, RÜBBELBERG can do without the high amount of sugar otherwise found in egg liqueurs. To give the whole a touch of sun and freshness, RÜBBELBERG also contains a note of lime. RÜBBELBERG is a Berlin child through and through. The ingredients, however, were consciously selected according to criteria of sustainability and quality where the best can be found. In the process, they also looked beyond the city limits. Only high-quality ingredients are processed. From the organic eggs from the farm in Schleswig-Holstein to the noble organic Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar. A liqueur needs alcohol too, of course. Here too, RÜBBELBERG relies on sustainably produced quality: a locally produced organic grain from a North German family distillery is used. 

Our story:

RÜBBELBERG was founded in the summer of 2017 by us, Christopher, Philipp and Sebastian.  

Together we developed the idea to give a long forgotten liqueur a new shine - the egg liqueur. Until now, we agreed, egg liqueur only tasted really good when the grandparents, parents or whoever made it themselves. The egg liqueur to be bought in supermarkets could never fully keep up with the homemade ones. So we decided to produce our own egg liqueur. We met over the following weeks and months until autumn in our own small kitchens in our Berlin apartments and worked on a recipe for an egg liqueur to our taste. Finally, after several night shifts and tasting rounds (parties), we had come up with the perfect recipe for us - the first RÜBBELBERG had seen the light of day.

First we produced RÜBBELBERG in small quantities for friends, family and ourselves. But the demand grew quickly, friends of friends and family demanded their own RÜBBELBERG. So we quickly reached our limits. After another long search we found a traditional schnapps distillery, which is now run by the third generation of the family and was able to bottle RÜBBELBERG according to the original recipe in larger quantities according to the quality and sustainability standards we set ourselves. 

The first batch of RÜBBELBERG was produced in July 2018. The first bottle was sold on 21 July 2018. Since then, more and more people in Germany and internationally (including Tokyo) have been enjoying the unique, fresh and valuable taste of RÜBBELBERG. The institution for quality and innovation in the food sector - Markthalle Neun in Berlin Kreuzberg - was also so convinced by the fine liqueur that they promptly offered us their own stand in Berlin's sacred food halls. Since then we personally sell every weekend to an increasing number of egg liqueur lovers.

 

We founders: 

Christopher was born in Lima, Peru. After spending his youth and school years in Düsseldorf, he was drawn to Tübingen and London to study economics. Finally, he ended up in Berlin, where he has been successfully supporting companies for several years to master the challenges of digital time change. 

Philipp was born in tranquil Willich on the Lower Rhine. He was drawn to the big city - Hamburg - to study law. During and after his studies Philipp travelled the countries of the world. He was always tempted to think outside the box and increasingly pursued his cultural interests in addition to his work as a lawyer. 

Sebastian was born in Münster, Westphalia. But he did not stay Westphalian for long and so he grew up in Düsseldorf to a cheerful Rhenish nature. After he finished school in Ireland, he went to Munich and Heidelberg to study law. Afterwards he searched for his place in the world in many cities, finally ending up in Berlin, where he found the passion that connects him with Christopher and Philipp - advocaat.
